Why do cat ears have two layers

Cats have a much stronger hearing than humans, and the human ear can hear very low-frequency sounds ranging from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. Cats' hearing is the same on the low end, but they can hear highs up to 100,000 Hz. If you look closely at a cat's ears, you will find that there are two layers at the base of the cat's ears. What are the specific functions of these two layers, let's take a look at them together.

Strictly speaking, cat ears are divided into three parts: outer ear, inner ear, and middle ear, which makes the cat's ears look more layered. The outer ear includes the auricle and the external auditory canal. The auricle collects sound waves and acts on the tympanic membrane through the external auditory canal, causing the tympanic membrane to vibrate. The auricles of lower mammals are long and large, with abundantly attached muscles that rotate in different directions in order to determine the direction of sounds and prepare for escape or attack. Cats raised at home also use this function to hear us pour out cat food and other cat supplies, so that they can always eat at the first time.

The feline's inner ear, made up of bony, lymph-filled, semicircular channels, maintains the body's balance through a complex mechanism that, rather than the tail, allows them to land safely when falling. The inner ear also contains three small fluid-filled tubes that are angled to each other and are responsible for the sense of balance. Sometimes you will find that the cat climbs to a high place, picks up his cat toys, and jumps down without any problem, the inner ear plays a very important role

The last two layers of cat ears we see are actually the middle ears of cats. The middle ear is housed in a small bony pocket at the base of the skull, invisible from the outside. The inner ear contains the actual hearing organ, where sound waves transmitted through the middle ear are converted into nerve impulses that are sent to the brain. When the cat hears the sound of cat supplies such as cat food, it will be quickly transmitted back to the brain, and the brain can respond immediately.

There's a theory that that little pocket helps detect highs by lowering the bass, especially when the ears are angled. These pockets help your cat hear mice before they smell or see them. So can the electric mouse and cat toy sense it?
